Hybrid

I've long been a fan of exploring different processes and in this case it's a hybrid of photogravure and pastel transfer. These monoprint earth portraits were made by exposing a photosensitive plate to a transparency made from my own analog photographs. A pastel sketch was then transferred to 100% cotton rag paper via a transparent medium. The plate is then inked and printed in black on top of the pastel transfer using a printmaking press.
